Prior to joining ADB, Jongmi Son worked at the Export–Import Bank of Korea, where she was involved in the appraisal and financing of infrastructure and energy projects in developing countries, supporting both sovereign and non-sovereign operations.

Currently, Jongmi Son is an Energy Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) working in the Energy Sector Office. She focuses on developing and implementing clean energy projects in South Asia, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and power sector modernization.

She also supports the organization of the Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF), ADB's flagship platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration on clean energy in the region.
