Dhanpal Jhaveri is Vice Chairman-Everstone Group, a premier investment group focused on India and South-East Asia, with assets in excess of US$7 billion across private equity, real estate, credit, climate change and green infrastructure, and venture capital. He is also the CEO for Eversource Capital, a joint venture between Everstone and Lightsource bp that provides global investors with an opportunity to invest in the Indian green infrastructure alongside a global industrial leader and established regional fund manager. Dhanpal is passionate about the environment and investing; he is associated with CII as a member of its Renewable Energy Council and its National Committee on Private Equity and Venture Capital. He is also on the Finance Advisory Panel of The India Sanitation Coalition (ISC). In addition, Dhanpal is a member of the Managing Committee of the Indian Merchant’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also mentors young business leaders and entrepreneurs ardently and is a member of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO). Dhanpal is also a board member and an Ex-President of TiE, Mumbai and the Board Member of Avasara Leadership Institute; an educational institution focused on accelerating academic and leadership outcomes for India’s brightest girls. He has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Mumbai and a Master of Business Administration from Babson College, USA.

Bio

Dhruv is an associate at IDinsight - a global advisory, data analytics, and research organization that helps development leaders maximize their social impact.

His research so far has focused on the nexus of energy, climate, and development - especially targeted at low-income communities in India and sub-Saharan Africa. Between 2017 and 2020, Dhruv has worked as a visiting student researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology D-Lab, and as a research assistant in Serbia, Singapore and the Netherlands. He also led research and development for IBIS Power - a renewable energy startup designing carbon-free buildings in Europe.

Dhruv is the co-founder of Candela Energy, a last-mile distribution organization providing rural villages access to life-improving products and has been awarded by ETH Student Project House in Switzerland and EarthTech in Australia.

Diana co-led ADB’s first climate change policy based loan this year in the Philippines and previously led ADB’s first gender mainstreamed energy sector results based lending program. Diana is ADB’s focal for energy operations in the Philippines. She has worked in energy and climate change across Southeast Asian countries for the past 6 years and previously worked in corporate and operational management in a private sector energy company with international operations, as well as in CSOs and international institutions. She holds two Masters degrees from Yale University in Environmental Management and International & Development Economics.

Dieter Billen is a Principal at Roland Berger South-East Asia. He has worked in several countries across Southeast Asia, and originally started at the firm's Brussels office in Belgium. He consults on infrastructure development, including setting up public-private partnerships. His infrastructure experience focuses on energy and utilities and especially renewables. He has advised investors and developers on energy transition projects across South-East Asia.

Dil Rahut is Vice Chair of Research at the Asian Development Bank Institute. He was a Senior Global Program Manager for the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre. He previously worked for the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan’s Research and Statistics Department. He also served as a research fellow at the WorldFish Centre; senior fellow and Japan chair at the Indian Council for Research in International Economic Relations; chief of research, planning, and monitoring and Visa/Mastercard director at the Bank of Bhutan Ltd; and assistant professor of development economics at South Asian University. He has a Ph.D. in development economics from the University of Bonn’s Center for Development Research, a master’s degree in economic policy management from the University of Tsukuba, an MBA, and a BSc from India. He has over 200 publications (H-Index-38) in Scopus-indexed journals, guest-edited several journal special issues, and edited books on development.

She holds a PhD, Master’s, and Graduate Diploma in economics, all from the University of Essex (UK). She is currently a guest editor for the Applied Energy’s special issue “Integration of Renewable Energy in Energy Systems, Perspectives on Investment, Technology, and Policy”.

Dina has published articles on these topics in journals such as Energy Economics, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Australasian Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Environmental Management, Energy Policy, and Journal of Sustainable Finance & Investment. She is currently a guest editor for the Applied Energy special issue “Integration of Renewable Energy in Energy Systems, Perspectives on Investment, Technology, and Policy.” She earned her PhD and MSc in economics from the University of Essex (United Kingdom). She also holds an internationally recognized teaching qualification from the Fellow of Higher Education Academy and a qualification in research career management from the Staff Educational and Development Association.

Dinesh Kumar Ghimire is the Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Government of Nepal. He is, currently, the chairperson of three companies viz: Vidyut Utpadan company Limited (VUCL), Rashtriya Prasharan Grid Company Limited (RPGCL), and the Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL) all under the Ministry of Energy Water Resources and Irrigation. He is also on the Board of Directors of Nepal Electricity Authority. He has been associated with the power sector of Nepal for more than three decades. During his service in various government organizations, he was involved in planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of power projects, Project Development Agreement negotiation, private sector promotion, promoting renewable energy projects, etc. Mr. Ghimire has led many bilateral negotiations regarding water and power issues with neighboring countries like India, China, and Bangladesh. He also served as a Governing Board Member from Nepal in SAARC Energy Centre and has been engaged in Regional and Sub-regional forums like BBIN, SASEC, SAARC, and BIMSTEC. Apart from his full-time service in the Government, Mr. Ghimire has teaching experience in various engineering colleges viz: Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, Kathmandu Engineering College, Advanced College of Engineering and Management, Katipur City College and Khwopa College of Engineering both at Masters and Bachelor levels. Ghimire received his M. Tech. in Hydroelectric System Engineering and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, and his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Rajasthan University, Jaipur, India.
