Abdulla Firag
Consultant on Energy Sector Development,
Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy
Dr. Abdulla Firag works as an Energy Sector Development consultant for the Asian Development Bank, bringing over 20 years of expertise in telecommunications, electrical engineering, and the energy sector. He earned his B.Eng. degree (with honors) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Adelaide, Australia, in 1999, followed by M. Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, in 2003 and 2008.
He worked as the Project Manager for the Renewable Energy Technology Development and Application Project in the Maldives from 2004 to 2006. Prior to this, he has served as an Electrical and Electronics Engineer at the Maldives Airports Company. His academic journey includes a role as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the College of Engineering, University of Canterbury, New Zealand, from April 2009 to November 2011. From 2012 to 2022, he played key roles at Dhiraagu including the position of Director of Networks.
