"Mr. Ali Majid was appointed as a Deputy Minister at Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology on 22 April 2022, and is currently overseeing policy aspects in the energy sector with focus on renewable energy projects. Prior to this, Mr. Majid has also served as the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture from 2021 to 2022. Before his new appointment, Ali Majid had served the government as the Managing Director, Director Planning and Development and also as a Board Member of Northern Utilities Ltd. from 2008 to 2012. During the period, Mr. Majid contributed in developing several government policies on renewable energy, waste management as well as water and sewerage projects for the islands in North Province. Furthermore, he was also an elected Council Member and Head of Infrastructure and Development at the Secretariat of the Noonu Atoll Council. Hence, his experience in utility services and infrastructure planning is supporting and adding value to policy decisions that is driving progress of energy sector development."
