"Debashis Sarkar's career is a testament to a lifelong dedication to the vital, often unseen, world of power generation and distribution. With over 30 years of experience illuminating the lives of millions across India, his journey paints a vibrant picture of leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Born on January 1st, 1964, Debashis's passion for electricity found its spark early. Fueled by an innate curiosity and a penchant for problem-solving, he pursued a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India, graduating in 1986. This solid foundation became the cornerstone of his diverse and impactful career path. His initial years saw him honing his skills in a variety of roles, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in operation, erection & commissioning, quality assurance, and maintenance operations. He tackled challenges head-on, whether navigating the complexities of power generation plants or ensuring the smooth functioning of distribution networks. This period also saw him earn the esteemed ""Energy Auditor"" certification from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, India, further solidifying his commitment to efficient and sustainable practices. Debashis's leadership qualities soon blossomed, leading him to progressively demanding positions. He held managerial roles at Torrent Power Limited and CESC Ltd, playing a pivotal role in managing both high-tension and low-tension distribution networks, demonstrating his mastery of the entire power ecosystem. His ability to plan and schedule effective maintenance schedules ensured smooth operations and minimized disruptions, directly impacting the lives of countless consumers. His talent for leadership and technical expertise didn't go unnoticed. In 2007, he joined India Power Corporation Limited (IPCL) as an Additional Chief Engineer, eventually rising to the role of Vice President (Technical). Here, he took charge of the Asansol Licensee operation as Business Head, overseeing generation, transmission, and distribution within the entire licensed area. His strategic vision and operational prowess played a key role in ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of power to millions in the region. Never one to shy away from new challenges, Debashis took on the leadership of CESC Ltd's Ranchi subsidiary as Head (O&M) in 2014. He successfully navigated the complexities of managing a diverse team and infrastructure, ensuring the smooth and dependable supply of power to the city's residents and businesses. In 2020, Debashis embarked on a new chapter, accepting the challenging yet rewarding role of Director (Technical) at Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited. As the head of Transmission and Distribution for the entire state, he shoulders the responsibility of providing reliable and accessible power to millions of citizens. His deep understanding of the sector, coupled with his strong leadership skills and communication abilities, positions him perfectly to tackle the unique challenges of Tripura's energy landscape. Beyond his technical prowess and leadership acumen, Debashis is known for his strong communication skills, relationship management abilities, and commitment to change management. He believes in leading by example, fostering a collaborative work environment where his team feels empowered to innovate and excel.
