Ms. Masumi Takanashi is the Director of the CCS Project Department of JOGMEC, and has 20 years of experience in the energy industry. She is currently working with the government on the design of incentives and other support schemes to promote CCS in the country. She is a co-author of JOGMEC’s CCS and Carbon Intensity Guidelines, CCS Carbon Credit Handbook and is responsible for research on business environment, laws and regulations related to CCS, cross-border CO2 transportation, CO2 count in the CCS value chain, and CCS carbon market etc. As a member of the experts committee, she worked on drafting of a JCM-CCUS guideline in 2023, which will enable CCUS projects to generate carbon credits in the Joint Crediting Mechanism between a partner country and Japan. She is also currently part of the government-led experts’ group on the development of a carbon credit methodology for DAC project in Japan.
