United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

Mr. Monroy is an experienced officer of the United Nations with a demonstrated history of working in the international and domestic development arena, particularly on inclusive and sustainable industrial development where the potential of industries is harnessed in ways that will (1) create quality jobs & generate fair income; (2) reduce inequalities; (3) build resilience & adaptive capacities; and (4) cause no further harm to people and the environment. As the UNIDO Country Representative in the Philippines, his main responsibility is to lead the Country Office in the implementation of the Country Programme. He is responsible for representing UNIDO, promoting the Organization as an effective partner for development, and maintaining close contacts with local stakeholders including government institutions and international entities. In coordination with technical teams at UNIDO Headquarters, he is involved in project development, project management, coordination, and strategic communications. He is a licensed professional with a Masters’ degree in chemical engineering. He has strong thematic thrusts in the areas of Industry 4.0; green economy; energy and climate action; value chain upgrading and access to markets; SME development; and private sector partnerships.
