Energy Policy Review
Wednesday, 4 June 2025
4:00 - 5:30 p.m. (GMT +8)
As mandated in paragraph 118 of ADB's 2021 Energy Policy, a review of the policy is required in 2025 to assess progress in achieving the policy's objectives of accelerating the development of sustainable and resilient energy systems that provide reliable and affordable access for all, promote inclusive economic growth and social development, and support the low-carbon transition in Asia and the Pacific.
This session aims to assess Multilateral Development Banks' (MDBs) contributions and the effectiveness of policies implemented by MDBs, while consulting on the future direction of ADB's energy sector. While early review of the Energy Policy 2021 with internal consultations have commenced, external consultations with NGO and CSO stakeholders will further inform the identification of necessary improvement to current policy provisions, amendments, and possible expansions.
