Bio

Dr. Seo is a researcher and manager who majored in architectural engineering and has studied the building energy efficiency field for 10 years in academia and over 6 years in a quasi-governmental organization. His background in both architecture and engineering allowed him to establish his research field at the merging borders of architecture, construction, building physics and building energy efficiency. Since joining the Korea Energy Agency, he has been in charge of policy work rather than research. He operates and manages the zero energy building certification system and realizing Korea's roadmap for mandatory zero energy buildings. He also contributed to the energy efficiency of Korea's buildings by establishing a ZEB mid- to long-term roadmap, ZEB optimization consulting support project, ZEB infrastructure construction support project, and education project to promote the spread of zero-energy buildings. Currently, he is operating the energy-saving design standards for buildings and the zero energy building certification system at the building energy management division of the Korea Energy Agency.

Yang Yuan, born in 1993, graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor's degree in business management. Since 2016, she has joined the International Business Department of Shaanxi Financial Holding Group Co., Ltd. and started to participate in the planning and implementation of Shaanxi Energy Efficiency Improvement and Environment Promotion ADB Loan Project. Now she is the head of the Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Department of Shaanxi Financial Holding Development Investment Management Co., Ltd. ADB Loan Project.

Bio

Yukihiro Kawaguchi is the Director of the Global Environmental Affairs Office – in charge of international relations on climate change issues in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan. Mr. Kawaguchi is also in charge of CCUS policy and technology development.

Mr. Kawaguchi previously served as the Director of the Global Environment Partnership Office and as the Deputy Director of the Environmental Policy Division and the Environmental Economy Office in METI. Mr. Kawaguchi was also the Secretary General of the Japan Business Council in Europe.

Mr. Kawaguchi obtained a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Waseda University and a Master of Arts in public affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Bio

Yuko has over a decade of experience working with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, a Japanese multinational corporation primarily known for its excellence in energy, transport, shipping, submarines, aerospace, precision machinery, and industrial robots. Yuko is a procurement and communications specialist in the company’s hydrogen division and since 2014 has contributed to the development and delivery of the Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain (HESC) Project. Yuko is responsible for working with Australian and Japanese consortia and governments and overseeing community and stakeholder engagement activity in Australia.

Yun Ji Suh is an Energy Specialist in the Central and West Asia Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). With over 10 years of expertise in the energy sector, Yun Ji has managed various renewable energy investment projects. Prior to joining ADB, she worked at Samsung C&T Corporation, where she contributed to the development of solar PV projects in Kore and the United States. Throughout her career, Yun Ji has been actively engaged in diverse renewable energy project development and management processes, consistently aiming to maximize impact and achieve successful outcomes in clean energy investment.

Dr. Yun Zhou is a principal environment specialist at Office of Safeguards of ADB, mainly focusing on environmental safeguard due diligence of ADB financed projects in China and Mongolia. Prior to joining ADB, she was the Director of International Cooperation Center at the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, the largest research institution under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), where she provided support to different research teams in the implementation of bilateral/multilateral environmental cooperation projects, and conducted research on energy and climate change. She also worked as Deputy Director of the Administrative Office in the Appraisal Center for Environment and Engineering, which is a major technical support institution in the field of environmental impact assessment for MEE.

Yunshu is a 3E Analyst in the Planning and Economic Studies Section at the International Atomic Energy Agency. Her primary focus lies in supporting member states through capacity building activities and leveraging IAEA tools. She has prior experience in developing energy system models and utilizing GIS technologies. Before joining the IAEA, she had worked at Sympheny, the International Renewable Energy Agency, Aurora Energy Research and Grab. Yunshu holds a master's degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford.

Yunsoung Kim is a Research Fellow at Green Energy Strategy Institute which mainly concerns renewable energy systems, their socio-economic benefits, and electricity market reform for the energy transition. Ever since she received her Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Seoul National University in 2008, she has been working in the climate change and renewable energy sector. Her interests include acceptance and legislation of renewable energy, cities' energy systems, SDGs related to climate change, and renewable energy cooperation strategies on the Korean Peninsula. Recently, she served as a working group leader on K-SDGs(SDG7, and 13) organized by the Ministry of Environment, and was a member of the ‘Carbon Neutrality Committee’ of Presidential Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Villages

"Yunsoung Kim is the founder and CEO of Energy and Space, Inc. Energy and Space is a civil society think tank providing solution-oriented policies for energy transition through a systematic and scientific approach that considers spatial planning in maritime and rural areas. Since receiving her Ph.D. in urban planning from Seoul National University in 2007, she has held leadership roles in climate and renewable energy policy, including regenerating rural areas to respond to the climate crisis, building a hydrogen-based society to achieve carbon neutrality, and analyzing the socioeconomic effects of the offshore wind development. Before founding Energy and Space, Yunsoung worked at Green Energy Strategy Institute and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation as a research fellow. Yunsoung's expertise lies in the economic analysis of renewable energy systems, local acceptance, and legislation. Yunsoung is a non-executive director of the Korea Energy Agency, a member of the Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA), and co-chair of the Offshore Energy Industry Forum which is a network of Korean offshore wind supply chain companies. Last year, she was honored to receive an award certificate from the MAFRA."

Yuta Endo has expertise in finance with experience working for a local bank in the Philippines for a few years. He has been in the financing industry for over 5 years since he graduated from the University of Tokyo in 2018. He joined METI in 2023 and plays a role in promoting transition finance both in the domestic market and now in the global market, in collaboration with many stakeholders including Japanese companies in the energy industry, ones in the heavy industry and various FIs.
