Andrew Kautoke
Business Development and Major Projects Manager,
Tonga Power Limited
Mr. Andrew Kautoke is a Senior Manager at Tonga Power Limited (TPL), overseeing Strategic Planning, Business Development, and Major Projects. He supports the CEO in not only delivering critical renewable energy projects, but in ensuring they are sustainable and operable through long-term strategic investment planning.Despite being a small island nation in the South Pacific, Tonga faces many of the same energy transition challenges as larger countries—particularly in ensuring a just and fair transition. Andrew is currently working alongside the Asian Development Bank to develop an updated Least Cost Power Generation Development Plan, a foundational step toward long-term energy resilience. He is also leading the integration of large-scale solar and battery storage, the establishment of the country’s first 33kV transmission line, distribution network upgrade projects and the upgrade of Tonga’s main diesel power station to maintain reliability during intermittent renewable supply. His work is centered on building not just projects, but lasting systems for Tonga’s energy future.
