Balawant Joshi is the Founder and Managing Director of Idam Infrastructure Advisory Pvt. Ltd., and a prominent expert in India’s power sector with over 30 years of experience in electricity policy, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. He also serves as Director on the boards of Enfragy Solutions and Aurus Lending Solutions, and previously founded Origin Renewables, a solar rooftop platform acquired by private equity in 2020. A key contributor to India's clean energy policy landscape, he has pioneered initiatives such as Feed-in Tariff (FIT) design, Renewable Purchase Obligations, Renewable Energy Certificates, and Energy Saving Certificates. He has advised on regulatory reforms and utility restructuring across India and internationally, including engagements in the EU, Kenya, Maldives, and Southeast Asia. Balawant is a Founder Member and Secretary of the Indian Renewable Energy Federation and serves on the Advisory Board of Power Exchange India Limited. An electrical engineer with postgraduate qualifications in finance and software technology, he actively contributes to industry bodies such as CII and MNRE committees.
