Chen Gesong, Ph.D., serves as Director General of Development at the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO). A Professor-Level Senior Engineer and IEEE Senior Member, he previously held key leadership roles at State Grid Corporation of China, including Deputy Director of the Research Department and Deputy Director of the Global Energy Interconnection Office. Dr. Chen’s expertise spans power technologies, large-scale enterprise management, and energy strategy. His significant contributions have been recognized with the Chinese National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class) and the China National Prize for Enterprise Management Innovation (First Class). In recent years, Dr. Chen has spearheaded pioneering research in global energy interconnection, the convergence of energy-transportation-information networks, biodiversity in energy transitions, and decarbonization policy mechanisms. The impactful outcomes of this research have been incorporated into policy recommendations by the UN High-Level Political Forum, establishing their work as a critical solution for advancing global energy transformation, climate action, and the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
