Lorena Alberte

Gender Equality, Environmental and Social Safeguarding Project Lead, A2D Facility,

Lorena Alberte is a seasoned development professional specializing in gender-responsive and inclusive safeguards for clean energy projects across Latin America and the Caribbean. As Project Administrator for the Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility at UNIDO, she leads the integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS) into demonstration projects focused on critical minerals, clean hydrogen, smart energy, and industrial decarbonization. Previously, at UNEP’s Caribbean Sub-Regional Office, she implemented gender assessments and safeguard plans for GEF- and GCF-funded climate projects. Her work also includes consulting on green hydrogen for the EU Delegation to Chile under the Team Europe Initiative, collaborating with institutions like KfW and EIB. With prior experience at Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and AECID, she has supported feminist foreign policy and sustainable development. Lorena holds academic credentials in Sustainable Development, Environmental and Human Rights Law, and International Relations, and is dedicated to fostering equitable, community-driven climate solutions.
