Sakari Oksanen is an experienced professional in the energy sector with a background spanning work in Africa, Asia, and Europe. His career has included a junior assignment with UNIDO in Africa, leadership roles in subsidiaries of the international consulting and engineering group Pöyry (now AFRY) in Singapore, Thailand, China, and Finland, and serving as Deputy Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). As an independent consultant, he advises clients from both the public and private sectors on energy policy, low-carbon energy system planning, and the development of clean energy projects. He holds an M.Sc. with dual majors in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) and Mechanical Engineering (Power Plants and Energy Economics).
