Simon Rolland

Simon Rolland has over 17 years of experience leading the implementation of projects and programmes across emerging and developing countries.He currently serves as Programme Manager for Southeast Asia at the International Energy Agency (IEA), where he oversees political engagement and programme coordination with the region. Prior to joining the IEA, Simon was Director of GIZ’s energy portfolio in Thailand, leading several bilateral and regional technical cooperation programmes supporting the energy transition in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.Simon has also held key roles internationally, including managing a regional multi-donor energy access programme in Rwanda and serving as Energy Programme Manager for the European Union in Ghana. Earlier in his career, he was Director of the Alliance for Rural Electrification, a business association promoting off-grid and mini-grid renewable energy solutions in emerging markets.
