Swati is the Climate Change Specialist focusing on just transition at the Asian Development Bank. She is the Just Transition focal for ETM and other energy and transport sector related projects. Prior to joining ADB, Swati was the Lead Analyst and Coordinator for the International Energy Agency in India. Swati’s responsibilities included developing institutional strategy for India and South Asia, relationship management, developing new partnerships and workstreams for the IEA in India, research and review, and advocacy. She developed the just transition and critical mineral workstream for Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis’ South Asia team and co-founded the India ZEV center on clean transport at University of California, Davis. Swati founded the climate change research center at National Foundation for India and led one of the first studies on the socio-economic impacts of coal transitions across the value chain in India in 2021. Between 2018-2020, Swati managed and co-edited the book ‘The Next Stop: Natural Gas and India’s Journey to a Clean Energy Future’ at Brookings India (now CSEP). She was also with The Energy and Resources Institute for more than four years where she led research on fossil fuel supply and transition issues.
