Speakers in this session will offer valuable insights into sustainable energy initiatives in the Cambodian garment industry, energy efficiency in the building and construction sector, and efforts to innovate and drive energy efficiency in South Asia and Southeast Asia. A speaker from the Global Green Growth Institute will highlight the development of a policy tool called the Model Green Factory Program and describe the results of energy audits across 50 garment factories. A speaker from Asian Development Bank Institute will describe the significant and growing contribution of the building and construction sectors to greenhouse gas emissions in Asia, and will explore the barriers, solutions, and policies for promoting and financing green buildings. A speaker from ADB will analyze the role of energy efficiency in the energy sector transformation of five countries in South Asia, highlighting the sectors with greatest potential for cost-effective reduction of energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Finally, a speaker from the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) will share ETP’s experience in supporting innovations in energy efficiency markets with a focus on Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines—describing the readiness of industry and markets in these countries to scale up energy efficiency implementation.
