ACEF Speaker
Muhammed Ali
Chief Commercial Officer,
JCM Power
Muhammed Ali is Chief Commercial Officer at JCM Power, an emerging-market renewable energy developer with an active portfolio spanning Asia and Africa. In this capacity, he is responsible for shaping and delivering JCM's commercial strategy, advancing business development, origination, pricing, government relations, and market expansion across the region. He works closely with governments, utilities, development finance institutions (DFIs), regulators, and corporate offtakers to bring forward utility-scale renewable energy projects that balance commercial performance with sustainable development impact.
With over two decades of experience at the forefront of the international power sector, Ali has built deep expertise in business development, project management, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, divestments, post-merger integration, government relations, and corporate strategy. He has successfully managed multimillion-dollar budgets and led cross-functional teams of engineers, financiers, lawyers, and operations professionals through all stages of development, construction, and operation across Asia and Africa.
Ali has been central to JCM's growth since joining in 2017, growing the company's balance sheet by more than USD 250 million through origination and M&A. He led the construction, commissioning, and operations of Hawa, JCM's inaugural 50 MW wind project in Sindh, Pakistan. More recently, he spearheaded JCM's bid and award of the Dhabeji Hybrid Park — a 240 MW solar-wind project that secured Pakistan's record-breaking lowest renewable tariff of USD 3.1 cents per kWh. The USD 242 million project required assembling a multi-partner consortium, navigating a rigorous global OEM and EPC selection process, and structuring a financing package backed by a pool of international and local lenders with strong DFI participation.
Prior to JCM, Ali spent nearly a decade at Hydro One Inc. in Toronto, managing over 1,500 MW of generation connections with a USD 100 million+ program budget. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Hawa Energy Pvt Ltd and Jhimpir Power Pvt Ltd, and holds board positions across several JCM-affiliated companies. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Windsor and an MBA Essentials from the London School of Economics. He is fluent in English, Urdu, and Punjabi.
