Engr. Dr. Muhammad Awais currently serves as Chief Engineer (Electrical R&D) at Ningbo Orient Wires & Cables Co., Ltd. (NBO), Ningbo, China. He is involved in multiple key R&Ds and supervises EHV DC and AC cable system designs. He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, in collaboration with NBO. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University. Since 2016, Dr. Awais has been actively involved in both research and academia within the field of Electrical Power Engineering. His research primarily focuses on advanced insulation materials for electrical equipment and innovative HVDC cable materials aimed at enhancing power transmission efficiency. Dr. Awais has authored over 40 SCI-indexed journal articles and numerous papers presented at international conferences. He is a regular peer reviewer for several high-impact SCI journals, including IEEE Transactions and Polymer Composites. As an active representative of NBO, he frequently speaks at prominent global conferences such as CIGRE and Jicable.
