sectors to an inclusive, globally-competitive, resilient, green, and job-rich economy.
Along this line, his priority actions have revolved around promoting industry-related
policies, capacity-building, technology transfer, and green financing to:
(1) accelerate the development of the country’s National Quality Infrastructure
(NQI) and its ecosystem to support exports and participation in global value
chains especially for SMEs;
(2) facilitate the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies including artificial
intelligence;
(3) diversify manufacturing and value-added processing to maximize the country’s
vast resources in a sustainable manner;
(4) prevent plastic pollution even before the wastes are generated through
upstream and midstream interventions; and
(5) intensify climate action by introducing UNIDO tools on NDC development,
advancing renewable energy applications, and decarbonizing heavy industries
and the transport sector.
In these efforts, he works closely with government and takes advantage of UNIDO’s
comparative advantage, global experience and network of partners from the private
sector, academe, civil society, key financing institutions, and other development
partners.
He has a graduate degree in chemical engineering and before joining the United
Nations, has worked extensively in the private sector and academe. His experience
