Frederic Tesfay is a mechanical engineer whose career integrates energy, transport, and digitalization. He entered the field as a site engineer on billion-dollar casino builds in Las Vegas, gaining hands-on expertise in complex infrastructure delivery. In 2010 he transitioned to GIZ and gained further project steering experience from the University Capacity Building Programme (UCBP), delivering 2 000-plus Buildings throughout Ethiopia.Now based in Manila, Frederic leads the GIZ Energy & Urban Portfolio in the Philippines. He steers policy components of the Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy (CASE) initiative, Cooling and Energy Efficiency Projects as well as Urban-Act, shaping renewable-energy roadmaps, reforms in partnership with Philippine and German institutions. His technical-cooperation portfolio also covers multimodal transport pilots that blend e-mobility, GIS analytics, and digital planning, along with data platforms that channel climate finance into cooling efficiency and micro-grid upgrades. By fusing engineering with policy, Frederic works towards a tech-forward infrastructure future across Southeast Asia.
