Andre Susanto is a founder of a climate-resilient rural economic development social enterprise in Indonesia. He has conducted socio-economic surveys and technical inspections in more than 400 rural communities across Asia Pacific. With this experience, he developed various innovations around rural electrification technologies and business models. He has an engineering and physics academic background, with over fifteen years of technology development, clean energy investments, policy advisory, and project development experience. He led his company and team members to deploy several of Indonesia's pioneer rural electrification innovations: the first solar PV/BESS modular smart grid, the first commercial PV leasing system, the first DC mesh micro-grid, and the first pole-mounted solar PV modular smart mini-grids. Currently they are operating several solar PV mini-grids and have deployed a number of stand-alone solar PV systems on a leasing basis. Andre continues to lead the company to deploy creative and innovative solutions for rural and peri-urban low-income communities to deploy and participate in a just energy transition. In an effort to scale access to clean energy in rural areas, Andre has developed a micro-franchise system to work with micro and small businesses and cooperatives to deploy fit-for-purpose solar PV technologies including in rural areas.
