Ziwei Liao is a Senior Investment Officer at Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), where she leads the Bank’s energy sector engagement in Southeast Asia and serves as AIIB’s focal point for the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative. She has more than 20 years of experience in infrastructure investment and financing, with a strong track record in originating and executing complex transactions across emerging markets. Since joining AIIB in 2018, Ms. Liao has led several landmark public- and private-sector investments across Southeast Asia and Central Asia, helping mobilize significant private capital for sustainable infrastructure development. Prior to AIIB, she held investment and advisory roles with leading Chinese and U.S. financial institutions and corporations. Her expertise spans the energy and urban utilities sectors, as well as clean and digital technologies, with extensive experience in public finance, project finance, direct equity investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, and management consulting. Ziwei earned her undergraduate degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Hong Kong and a Master’s in Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is a CFA Charterholder and a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
