Mr. Froilan J. Savet serves as the Senior Vice President and Head of Networks at MERALCO. He is also a Director and Board Member of several private companies. He is also affiliated with various working groups and committees that primarily focus on the improvement of electrical codes and standards, and the advancement of the electrical profession. He is a Professional Electrical Engineer and has been recognized as an ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer since November 2018. He has received electrical engineering awards and recognition as outstanding alumnus for his achievements in the electrical engineering field from both University of the Philippines and Mapua University. Most recently, his exceptional contributions and incomparable experience in the field of electrical engineering was further recognized as he was enrolled in the prestigious College of Fellows of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc.’s (IIEE) – the flagship and only accredited professional organization of electrical practitioners of the Philippines’ Professional Regulation Commission. Savet is at the forefront of transformative initiatives shaping the future of the Philippine power sector, driving programs that strengthen grid reliability and sustainability, including: • Ongoing review and update of the Philippine Grid Code (PGC) to integrate advanced technologies such as energy storage systems, inverter-based resources and grid-forming devices. • Smart Grid Program strategy and execution, focusing on automation, and operational resilience across the distribution network, and spearheading the development of Meralco’s state-of-the-art Grid Operations and Control Center (GEOCC) to enhance real-time monitoring and control over emerging distributed energy resources. • Advocacy for next-gen energy solutions, such as the integration of decentralized Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) and nuclear energy, to secure a sustainable, reliable, and future-proof energy supply for the country. He is a distinguished speaker on Smart Grid Technologies, Energy Innovation, Distributed Energy Resources, Variable Renewable Energy and Nuclear Energy at seminars and discussions both locally and abroad.
