Ariel Fronda

Engr. Fronda is the Chief Science Research Specialist (SRS) of the Hydropower and Ocean Energy Management Division under the Renewable Energy Management Bureau of the Department of Energy (DOE). He previously served as the Chief SRS of the Geothermal Energy Management Division. A Mechanical Engineer by profession, he has been with the DOE for thirty (30) years.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and obtained his Master’s Degree in Management from the Technological University of the Philippines. He further pursued post-graduate studies at the United Nations University – Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP) in Reykjavik, Iceland, where he completed a diploma course specializing in Geothermal Reservoir Engineering. He also completed a training program on Geothermal Resource Management under the Japan International Cooperation Agency and attended the Geothermal Project Management Training in Auckland, New Zealand, sponsored by the New Zealand Government.
He currently oversees the formulation and implementation of policies, plans, and programs related to the accelerated development, transformation, utilization, and commercialization of hydropower and ocean energy resources, including emerging energy technologies.
