Jae-Gwan Choi

Mr. Jae Gwan Choi has served as President of the Korea Energy Agency (KEA) since January 2026. He has extensive experience in renewable energy, carbon neutrality, agricultural and fisheries policy, and public-sector governance. Over the past 30 years, he has been actively involved in rural development movements, working to advance rural communities and promote social integration. Prior to joining KEA, he directly participated in designing the Solar Income Village project in Guyang-ri, Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province. He previously served as Representative of the National Solar Dividend Network, Vice-Chair of the Carbon Neutrality Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Representative of the Citizens’ Movement Headquarters for Participatory Renewable Energy. He also held key public and policy advisory roles, including Non-Executive Director of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), Member of the Presidential Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Rural Affairs, Chairman of the Agriculture and Fisheries Policy Forum, and Secretary to the President for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food at the Office of the President. Mr. Choi holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology from Seoul National University.
