Damitha Kumarasinghe

Director General,
Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka

Damitha Kumarasinghe has been serving as the Director General (Chief Executive Officer) of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka since 2010. He has been widely invited by international agencies, utilities, regulators and international media on the subject of infrastructure regulations. He has a multi-disciplinary education background. His first degree is in Electrical Engineering (BSc (Eng.) ) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and Masters in Engineering (ME) degree from the University of New South Wales, (Australia). He has extensive international exposure on infrastructure regulation. Further, he currently serves in the Director Boards of Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (since 2010), Condominium Management Authority (Since 2010) and Petroleum Development Authority of Sri Lanka (Since 2021). Further he has served as a member of Director Board of Sri Lanka Handicraft Board (Laksala) during 2010 – 2015. He was also a steering committee member of the India – Sri Lanka Electricity grid interconnection project.
