Beyond Transition: Building Secure, Resilient, Inclusive, and Intelligent Energy Systems
8-11 June 2026 | ADB Headquarters, Manila
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the energy sector, offering new opportunities to enhance efficiency, optimize operations, and improve the economic viability of clean energy solutions. Across Asia and the Pacific, countries are seeking practical approaches to scale up renewable energy deployment while addressing challenges related to system integration, cost competitiveness, and investment risks. AI-enabled solutions, combined with innovative business models, are emerging as key enablers of the clean energy transition, supporting more efficient, flexible, and scalable energy systems.
Korea has developed a range of practical applications that demonstrate how AI and business model innovation can be applied across different segments of the energy sector. These include agrivoltaic systems that increase rural incomes while expanding distributed renewable energy, AI-based virtual power plant (VPP) systems that optimize the use of distributed energy resources, and integrated engineering and financing approaches that enhance the bankability of large-scale offshore wind projects. This workshop will present these experiences and explore how such solutions can be adapted and scaled in developing countries, with a focus on practical lessons, implementation challenges, and enabling conditions for wider adoption.
