Operations Session

Biodiversity & Nature in Energy Infrastructure

Thursday, 5 June 2025

4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (GMT +8)

This session highlights the importance of biodiversity and nature in energy infrastructure beyond the traditional safeguards perspective. It will demonstrate how ecosystem services—such as sedimentation control—can support the longevity and financial sustainability of energy projects.

This session will explore the role of biodiversity conservation in ensuring the long-term success of energy projects. The discussion will bring together government representatives, development partners, and experts to highlight practical approaches for integrating nature into infrastructure planning. It will include real-world examples of how protecting ecosystems can reduce operational risks, lower costs, and improve project outcomes.

ADB’s work on sustainable energy infrastructure aligns with Strategy 2030 and the Energy Sector Group’s priorities, emphasizing resilience, sustainability, and financial viability.
