Beyond Transition: Building Secure, Resilient, Inclusive, and Intelligent Energy Systems
8-11 June 2026 | ADB Headquarters, Manila
The Asia-Pacific region is set to contribute over 60% of new global wind energy capacity by 2030, with ASEAN emerging as a critical sub-region for wind deployment. At the same time, ASEAN holds significant critical minerals and metals that are important for the manufacturing of wind technology components. However, fragmented supply chains, limited domestic production capabilities, trade and infrastructure bottlenecks, and reliance on imported minerals and components hinder the region's ability to localize manufacturing and create resilient, diversified and sustainable supply chains.
This session will discuss a pragmatic framework and strategic opportunities for ASEAN wind energy supply chain development, as well as the enabling factors for achieving this. It will open with a keynote address on the strategic role of reliable supply chains for wind energy in ASEAN's energy transition, launching a joint ADB–GWEC report on ASEAN wind energy supply chains, followed by a context-setting presentation on regional wind energy supply chain trends, including country deep dives and opportunities for ASEAN countries along critical minerals-to-wind energy manufacturing and deployment supply chains.
A panel discussion will bring together wind proponents from government and international organizations, private-sector developers, turbine and substructure manufacturers to discuss advancing projects from early stage to implementation, supply chain risks, and strategies for diversifying and localizing manufacturing. The panel will further feature government and private sector representatives in the critical minerals extraction, refining and processing supply chain in ASEAN, covering minerals trade, recycling options for mineral recovery, and ESG within the upstream supply chain.
