Thematic Track Session 1.2 (Technological Innovation)

Inclusive Clean Energy for All

Tuesday, 3 June 2025

4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (GMT +8)

Ensuring that the benefits of clean energy reach all segments of society is essential for a truly just energy transition. While clean technologies continue to advance, marginalized and low-income communities often face structural and social barriers that prevent full participation. This session will explore how inclusive policies, capacity-building efforts, and locally driven solutions can empower these groups to become active participants in the energy transition. Discussions will focus on how innovation can be leveraged to expand access, reduce inequality, and ensure that no one is left behind.

Presenters will share practical models and emerging technologies aimed at making clean energy more inclusive. These include the Electric Jeepney project, which blends cultural identity with sustainable transport, and the Community Energy Toolkit (COMET), which builds local capacity for energy planning and implementation. Additional insights will cover barriers to electric cooking adoption among disadvantaged groups in Nepal, community-based solar solutions in Vietnam supported through public-private models, and broader strategies for achieving carbon neutrality with equity at the center.
