Charlie Ayco

Charlie Ayco is a former Mayor of his hometown in Sevilla, Bohol, Philippines -- one of the youngest mayors after the EDSA Revolution in 1986. After his short stint in politics, he moved to the NGO sector and spent many years with Habitat for Humanity (Asia Pacific) where he led the conduct of various sessions of the Asia Pacific Housing Forum. He later became the CEO of Habitat for Humanity Philippines from 2011 until 2017 when he moved to the energy sector and joined WeGen Energy Philippines where he developed key partnerships with churches, businesses and local government units interested to shift into renewable energy. In 2021, he became the Chairman and President of WeGen Energy Philippines and its subsidiaries. He is also the President of The Center for Empowerment, Innovation and Training on Renewable Energy (CentRE), a not-for-profit association of RE advocates pursuing full deployment of RE in the country. He is a proponent of distributed energy resources anchored on rooftop solar PV systems and has been invited to share his views and experiences in this area. Charlie Ayco holds the following academic degrees: AB Philosophy Cum Laude (Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary); MA Theology and Ph.D. (candidate) in Social Psychology (Ateneo de Manila University); Master in Development Management (with Distinction) from the Asian Institute of Management.
