Engr. FORTUNATO C. LEYNES is a distinguished leader in the global energy sector, offering over 40 years of comprehensive experience across the generation, transmission, distribution, and supply sectors of the electric power industry. A native of Bauan, Batangas, his career is defined by a rare blend of academic rigor, technical mastery, and executive stewardship. Engr. Leynes served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo), where he oversees the Philippines' vital transmission assets. His leadership at TransCo was preceded by a series of high-impact roles, including serving as an Independent Director and Chief Governance Officer of the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC). His executive portfolio is notably international. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) in Nigeria—the largest of the country’s 11 privatized utilities—representing the technical partnership of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco). His tenure at Meralco spanned decades of leadership, culminating in his role as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Clark Electric Distribution Corporation.
