Principal Environment Specialist,
ADB
Karma is the Principal Environment Specialist in the Environment Division of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department (CCSD) of the Asian Development Bank, based in Manila. She is the team lead and overall coordinator for ADB’s Environmental Action Plan (2024 – 2030), which is focused on scaling up ADB’s investments in nature and environment to help address the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity, and pollution. She is also responsible for managing the Asia Clean Blue Skies Program, ADB’s corporate program on air quality management. She also leads several initiatives on green infrastructure involving transport infrastructure projects in ecologically sensitive areas. She has assessed and managed environment safeguards for over 45 infrastructure projects in the transport, urban, agriculture and energy sector for over 19 years.Prior to joining ADB Karma worked for World Wildlife Fund Bhutan and as a freelance consultant in Bhutan and South Asia. Karma is from Bhutan. She has a Master’s degree in Environment Management from the School of Forestry and Environment Studies, Yale University, US.
