Kee-Yung Nam

Dr. Kee-Yung Nam is currently a Principal Energy Economist in the Energy Sector Office (SG-ENE), Sectors Group of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he conceptualizes the development of ADB's energy sector strategies and policies, and advises on the formulation of the energy sector lending and non-lending project pipeline. He is also responsible for the Energy Sector Trust Fund (Clean Energy Financing Partnership Facility) and undertakes analysis and evaluation of key energy sector issues, particularly in the area of clean energy technologies. Dr. Nam also oversees the energy sector finances as the SG-ENE Budget Manager (International), ensuring that financial resources are optimally allocated and that expenditures are well-founded in the priorities and objectives of the SG-ENE. In addition, Dr. Nam is the main focal point for partnerships and knowledge management, contributing to ADB's role as the region's solutions bank through holistic, knowledge-based, innovative, and integrated solutions.
Prior to joining SG-ENE, he was a Principal Economist in the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department, where he provided analytical research and technical advice in various disciplines, including power sector development and reform, renewable energy, fossil fuel subsidies, transport, impact assessment, country diagnostic studies, and issues related to economic analysis of investment projects, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, and environment sectors.
Prior to joining ADB, he worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). A Korean national, Mr. Nam holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Vienna, Austria.
