Chairperson and CEO,
Energy Regulatory Commission
Atty. Monalisa Dimalanta has been a recognized energy practitioner in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, a leader in the power sector and other various areas. On 8 August 2022, she assumed her current post as the Chairperson of the Philippines’ Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) after more than 20 years as a practicing lawyer. For two years (April 2019 to March 2021), she was the Chairperson of the National Renewable Energy Board (NREB) and laid the groundwork for the country’s updated 20-year National Renewable Energy Plan and the foundation for the Green Energy Auction Program, among others. Prior to assuming her current post as Chair & CEO of ERC, Chair Mona was a professor of law at the Ateneo de Manila Law School and a member of the faculty of the Ateneo School of Government. She continues to advocate for lifelong learning and established in 2023 an executive education program for ERC officers and staff with the National University of Singapore (NUS) Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Chair Mona also holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Laws degree as well as a Bachelor of Arts (major in Journalism) degree from the University of the Philippines.
