A passionate advocate for Green Steel and green technologies in general, Pek Hoong Chong champions the application of the latest technologies to achieve long term sustainability for business and society.He currently sits on the South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute, Environment and Safety Committee. Previously, he was a Board Member in the Thailand Prestressed Wire Industry Association and the Waste Management and Recycling Association of Singapore. Additionally, he also sat on the Singapore Green Building Council, Concrete and Structural Committee.With over two decades in the steel industry, he embarked on his career journey at NatSteel in Singapore, which became part of the Tata Steel Group in 2005. There, he navigated through various roles, culminating in his appointment as the Senior Vice President and Head of the Metallics Conversion Division. He then became the Managing Director at Siam Industrial Wire and its subsidiary, TSN Wires in Thailand, which are part of the Tata Steel Global Wires Business. From 2019 to the present, he has held the position of Chief Technology Officer at SteelAsia Manufacturing Corporation in the Philippines.Pek Hoong Chong earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the NationalUniversity of Singapore. He continued his education at the same university, earning both aMaster of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
