Ryuta Suzuki (Mr.) Director General, New Energy and Power Finance Department II JAPAN BANK FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION (JBIC) 　Jul 2023 – Present Mr. Ryuta Suzuki has nearly 30 years of experience in the field of development finance and currently is leading a dedicated task group in JBIC to promote Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC). Prior to his current role, he was stationed in Istanbul, Türkiye to establish a new representative office of JBIC. While he served as the first Chief Representative in Istanbul, he found that Japanese energy efficiency technology can be applied by various Turkish industries to comply with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) introduced by EU. Through collaboration with Turkish development banks, he has launched JBIC’s first GREEN untied loan to support energy efficiency projects. Through his activities in several operational departments in JBIC, Mr. Suzuki has acquired wide range of knowledge and expertise on electricity power sector including transmission and distribution network, energy efficiency technologies, and so on. He was formerly stationed in the Philippines from 2012 to 2015 as a start-up member of CGIF (Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility), a bond guarantee institution jointly established by governments of ASEAN+3 (10 member countries of Association of South-East Asian Nations together with the People’s Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) and ADB (Asian Development Bank) to develop capital markets in the region.
