Samir Thapa

Dr. Samir Thapa is working as a Research Associate with the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) program, at Loughborough University, UK, and is a Fellow with the School of Management and Marketing, Charles Sturt University, Australia. Within MECS, Dr. Thapa is part of the Finance team and researches the potential of outcome/impact financing (e.g., carbon and health) MECS vis a vis the wider financing eco-system. Dr. Thapa is currently involved in 1) understanding the value chain impacts of cooking fuel and technologies and the cost-efficient way e.g., digital monitoring to introduce and streamline those impacts e.g., PM2.5 vs BC in the carbon/outcome methodologies. With CSU, Dr. Thapa is working on two projects – in Nepal. The first project studies leveraging carbon finance to enhance mainstream commercial financing and the second project analyses the influence of purchase subsidies on the market competition - for clean cooking promotion.
