Seung Duck Kim

Seung Duck Kim is a Principal Energy Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), with more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector across power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and sector reform. He currently leads and supports energy sector operations in Central and West Asia, with a strong focus on power sector modernization, digitalization, clean energy transition, and private sector participation. Mr. Kim has extensive experience in developing complex sovereign and nonsovereign energy projects, including smart grid modernization, renewable energy integration, public-private partnerships, and energy sector reform programs. He has worked closely with governments, utilities, and development partners on advancing energy security, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure development across the region. In recent years, he has also been actively exploring emerging cross-sectoral initiatives related to critical minerals, circular economy solutions, and the broader energy transition value chain. He is also actively engaged in knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives related to energy transition, digital utilities, and emerging clean energy technologies, and frequently delivers lectures and speaks at forums, workshops, and conferences on energy sector transformation and sustainable infrastructure development. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Korea University.
