Shashank is 2007 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. At present he is holding the post of Joint Secretary (International Cooperation, Distribution and Utility Reforms division), Ministry of Power, Government of India.
As head of Distribution and Utility Reforms Division, the responsibility covers a broad sphere of activities like Review and monitoring of the ongoing flagship scheme of MoP i.e. “Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS)” to facilitate efficient and effective implementation of the scheme by States / distribution utilities and providing timely resolutions to the issues inhibiting progress. Formulation of Standard Operating Procedure/advisories for Smart Meter roll-out across States and Working out Consumer Engagement strategy for facilitating consumer acceptance of Smart Meters.I am also doing electrification works under schemes of Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) of Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
In addition, he heads the International Cooperation Division, the Ministry’s principal platform for international engagement. The Division promotes cooperation in the power sector by advancing structured energy dialogues, bilateral and multilateral partnerships, and sustained engagement with partner countries.
Various endeavors are currently being undertaken to significantly deepen bilateral ties with neighboring nations like Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar as well as global partners such as EU, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Germany, Japan, the UAE, Mauritius, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, the UK and the USA. Beyond bilateral efforts, India has played a pivotal role inshaping the global energy discourse through active participation in multilateral forums, includingthe G20, BIMSTEC, BRICS, ASEAN, COP, the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), WTO, ISA,OSOWOG and the United Nations and its Agencies in the Energy Sector.
In a span of 19 years of service he has also worked as Collector in Districts of Ujjain, Singrauli, Mandsuar and Betul and in various capacities in Madhya Pradesh Government which includes Managing Director of M.P.Road Development Corporation Ltd., M.P.Building Development Corporation Ltd., & M.P. State Asset Management Company Ltd., Chairman of Ujjain Smart City Ltd., CEO of M.P. Rural Road Development Authority and Director Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India.
