Side Event
Vision 20/20 towards OurEnergy2030: Leadership in A New Energy Economy Amid A Post-COVID Reality
Background:
OurEnergy2030, launched in Manila in February 2020, is the next-generation coalition of youth, local governments, business start-ups, and healthcare professionals for a responsive and inclusive energy transition. It is envisioned to be a platform to engage “Energy Families” and Government Leaders to, together, take the lead in navigating the Philippines’ bold journey of justly and effectively transitioning our energy future to one that is decarbonized, digitalized and decentralized.
Energy Families have significant assets and economic interests across multiple and diversified industries spanning entire supply chains and exhibit a number of unique traits that easily distinguish them from other actors in the market. Over time, these characteristics have allowed them to acquire a long-term yet grounded perspective while accumulating serious influence and political capital as these relate to economic growth and nation-building. On the topic of energy transitions, Energy Families are likely to be the most politically savvy, influential, and ultimately most capable of transforming energy supply regimes in the most comprehensive yet organic way possible while introducing scaled applications that can both, directly and indirectly, influence energy demand into the long-term.
With “Vision 20/20: Cross-sectoral Innovations for a Sustainable Future” as its theme, this ACEF Side Event was an invaluable contribution to the 2020 Asia Clean Energy Forum as it provided a platform for youth and civil society to dialogue alongside Energy Family champions.
