Background
A key element of any net zero strategy will be the development of commercially viable energy storage systems to supplement the increasing share of electricity that will be provided by variable renewable energy (VRE) systems. This Deep Dive Workshop will bring together experts working on the cost and performance of storage, businesses and utilities that are implementing commercial scale storage systems, and analysts studying opportunities and potential for scaling up the manufacturing of batteries in developing Asia.
Objectives
- Provide an overview of the technology, costs and performance of different energy storage options in developing Asia.
- Share case studies of commercial battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Asia.
- Provide a perspective on the developing market and investments into manufacturing of batteries for BESS in Asia.
