Demand for electricity in Southeast Asia is increasing due to economic growth. As the region highly depends on fossil fuels as a source of power, it is a challenge to decarbonize power generation, especially thermal power, while maintaining affordable, stable, sustainable, and resilient supply of electricity and expansion of energy access for continued economic and social growth. It is an utmost importance to promote various efforts and practical pathways towards Carbon Neutrality by taking into account different national circumstances and foster cooperation among countries.
