Deep Dive Workshop
Holistic Approaches to Integrated Energy System Planning: Bridging Technology, Policy, and Sustainability
Thursday, 5 June 2025
2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (GMT +8)
Energy is a cornerstone of socioeconomic development, powering economic growth, and improving social well-being, including access to health and education. Given energy’s critical role, energy system planning is necessary for a systematic analysis of different factors and technologies for the optimal energy system mix, electricity sector development and management, energy investment planning and policy formulation. This will ensure a sustainable energy supply that will meet the growing energy demand.
There are several modeling methodologies and tools used for energy system planning which are helping countries as they plan and strategize for sustainable energy development pathways while considering their Nationally Determined Contributions. Through these planning exercises, ADB is supporting its developing member countries in increasing their access to reliable, affordable, low-carbon energy to reduce poverty and promote development.
