Thematic Track Session 1.4 (Technological Innovation)
Unlocking Potential Emerging Energy Resources
Thursday, 5 June 2025
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (GMT +8)
As countries seek to diversify their energy mix and strengthen energy security, interest is growing in emerging energy resources such as geothermal, tidal, and hydrogen. These resources offer significant promise for decarbonization and resilience, yet technical uncertainties, high capital costs, and limited enabling infrastructure continue to constrain their development. This session will examine the potential of these alternative energy sources in the Asia and Pacific region, and explore strategies to overcome the financial and technological hurdles that stand in the way of wider adoption.
Through case studies and regional experiences, participants will gain insights into the latest efforts to harness untapped energy potential. The session will delve into early-stage innovations, cross-sector collaboration, and financing mechanisms that are helping de-risk investment in emerging technologies.
