Thematic Track Session 3.3 (Energy Efficiency)

Enhancing Efficiency in Manufacturing and Industry

Thursday, 5 June 2025

9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (GMT +8)

Improving energy efficiency in the industrial sector is key to reducing emissions and boosting competitiveness across Asia and the Pacific. While industries are increasingly turning to energy management systems and efficient machinery, challenges such as high upfront costs, limited technical capacity, and difficulties in retrofitting existing equipment continue to slow progress. This session will explore financial, technological, and policy solutions to support energy-efficient upgrades in industrial operations.

Presenters will share proven strategies from across the region, including energy efficiency networks (EENs) in ASEAN, scalable practices from Vietnam’s textile sector, and efforts to advance motor system standards in China. Case studies will also highlight pathways to decarbonization in India’s aluminium industry and broader innovation-led approaches to energy savings across industrial processes. Together, these insights offer a practical roadmap for integrating efficiency into industrial operations and overcoming financial and technical barriers.
