Thematic Track Session 3.4 (Energy Efficiency)
Scaling up ESCOs and Cooling Efficiency
Thursday, 5 June 2025
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (GMT +8)
Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) are playing a pivotal role in accelerating energy efficiency across the Asia and Pacific region, particularly in the cooling sector. As demand for cooling continues to rise, innovative technologies, harmonized policies, and collaborative financing models are essential to scaling sustainable solutions.
This session will explore how ESCOs can drive region-wide improvements in cooling efficiency by leveraging partnerships, digital tools, and policy alignment to reduce energy use and emissions.
Presentations will highlight case studies such as chiller replacement projects in Cambodia’s hotel sector, Super ESCO-led cold chain solutions for agriculture in India, and the development of the Philippines’ National Cooling Action Plan. The session will also explore India’s first long-term Cooling-as-a-Service (CaaS) concession and the broader challenges and opportunities in expanding the ESCO market. Through these examples, participants will gain insights into how data, financing, and regional cooperation can unlock scalable cooling solutions.
