Thematic Track Session 4.3 (Private Sector and Partnership Financing)
Building Expertise for Clean Energy Investments
Thursday, 5 June 2025
9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (GMT +8)
Expanding clean energy investment requires not only capital but also the technical and institutional expertise to design, implement, and manage projects effectively. Capacity-building programs and targeted technical assistance are critical to equipping governments, developers, and financial institutions with the knowledge needed to unlock private sector participation--particularly through public-private partnerships and blended finance mechanisms. This session will explore how inclusive, accessible training and advisory efforts can strengthen local capabilities and support sustainable clean energy development.
Presenters will share on-the-ground experiences from initiatives that are addressing expertise gaps at both the institutional and community levels. Case studies will include efforts to build technical and financial capacity for scaling solar investment in Bhutan, and the role of grid interconnection in enhancing the long-term viability of micro-hydro systems in Nepal. These stories highlight how capacity-building can serve as a catalyst for investment readiness, project sustainability, and inclusive energy transitions.
