Hanzel M. Cubangbang, MSc Senior Market Applications Officer for Southeast Asia at Fluence: He is responsible for market growth and strategy across the region. He has more than 10yrs experience in various strategic roles across the electric power industry. He have worked with the policy maker and regulator in the Philippines and one of the contributors of the Philippine Grid Code. Before joining Fluence, he worked with the sole System Operator (SO) and Transmission Network Provider (TNP) in the Philippines where he conducted various research, crafted standards and supported policy making for Renewable Energy and Energy Storage Systems in the Philippines.

Haoran Zhang, researcher at the University of Tokyo, senior researcher at LocationMind Inc.Japan. He has double Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering and Sociocultural Environment Science. In 2020, he received the project of Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan, mainly focusing on urban computing and smart city system.

Harry has an engineering background, working on a variety of projects within Shetland. He has worked on the ORION project since May 2021, joining Shetland Islands Council’s Future Energy Team. Their task is to identify pathways for Shetland to switch from dependency on fossil fuels towards cleaner forms of energy use. Harry is focused on issues surrounding electrification and affordable energy, along with port and quayside infrastructure.

Hasan is a Mechanical Engineer who works on Energy Efficiency, Energy Audit, Energy Advisory and Water Consumption Reduction related climate crisis mitigation projects. He has worked with Architecture and Engineering academia on integrating passive design and sustainable cooling concepts in the curriculum. He has also worked with informal housing communities to co create simple, cheap and effective thermal comfort solutions.

Ms. Variava joined the U.S. Embassy in Manila, Philippines in August 2021. She is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor. Previously, Ms. Variava served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the U.S. Mission to Indonesia, and as the U.S. Consul General in Surabaya, Indonesia. In Washington, Ms. Variava was the Director of the Office of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Bhutan in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State; she has also worked at the State Department Operations Center and on the Thailand desk. A member of the U.S. Foreign Service since 1996, Ms. Variava has also served overseas in India, Mauritius, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Ms. Variava worked as a newspaper reporter in Waterville, Maine. Raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she received an undergraduate degree in international relations from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. She has a master’s degrees from the University of Missouri and from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. In 2012, Ms. Variava received a master’s degree in national security strategy from the National War College in Washington, DC, and in 2014 she completed a fellowship in executive leadership with the International Women’s Forum (IWF). She and her husband have two sons.

Helge Tryti, is Director of Business Development South Asia. Previously he has been serving as Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Norway Embassy in New Delhi and Director of the Innovation Norway India offices.

During his career, Helge has held a number of management positions, nationally and internationally, focusing on business development in companies like Xerox, IBM, KPMG, Storebrand and Eika Group. He holds a MBA in International Management from Thunderbird Global School of Management.

He has gained significant know-how from waste-to-value and circular economy business during the past years by being involved in more than 500 sales projects globally. He is the CEO of WOIMA which has evolved from a start-up company to a recognized serious player in the field of circular economy.

Dr. Henri PAILLERE has over 26 years of experience in the nuclear energy sector and is currently working as Head of the Planning and Economic Studies Section at the International Atomic Energy Agency which he joined in February 2020. Before that, Henri worked at the OECD between 2011 and 2019, as Senior Analyst and Deputy Head of the Division of Nuclear Technology Development and Economics. He was also the head of the Technical Secretariat for two international initiatives, the Generation IV International Forum, and the International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation. Prior to these positions, he worked as R&D Program Manager at the Alstom Power Company and at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).

Henrik Fleischer is a founder and Executive Chairman of Karbon CCS Ltd, and co-inventor of certain of its carbon capture patents. Henrik has been working to commercialise carbon capture since 2006, upon successfully selling the ship-owning company that he had founded in 1997. While a shipowner, he also led a maritime agency and advisory company as exclusive agent for Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding and Sembcorp Industries. Henrik has also been Chairman of Constantza Shipyard, a major Romanian state shipbuilder, responsible for refinancing and amicable resolution of labour disputes. He previously developed industrial sales and countertrade within Eastern Europe. Henrik is a citizen of Norway, and served in the Royal Norwegian Navy as Commanding Officer of a missile-carrying fast patrol boat. Henrik holds an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics and graduated from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy (OMA III).

Mr. Hoang Van Tam currently is the Deputy Head of Climate change and Green growth Office under the Steering Committee’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Vietnam about climate change and green growth for the energy and industry sector.

He has been engaged to the climate change and green growth issues under the MOIT for over ten years. He has been the focal person in charge of working various topics related to climate change and green growth such as national program on energy efficiency, negotiation process in the Conference of Parties of UNFCCC, sustainable development and low carbon program on energy and industrial sector, developing and updating NDCs development for energy sectors and NDCs implementation mechanism such as carbon pricing, carbon crediting instrument, emission trading.
